The future of the Visegrád Group in light of political changes in Hungary

Początek spotkania: 07.05.2026, 10:00
Zakończenie spotkania: 07.05.2026, 11:00

The elections in Hungary represent not only an internal political shift, but also an event with significant implications for international politics, the European Union, and other formats of regional cooperation, including the Visegrád Group. The working breakfast will examine how recent political developments in Hungary may affect the cohesion, relevance, and strategic direction of the V4. It will assess whether the evolution of Hungary’s domestic and foreign policy may strengthen or weaken cooperation within the group. Particular attention will be given to the V4’s capacity to develop common positions on key European Union policy areas, within the broader context of EU decision-making processes. A key element of the discussion will be whether the V4 remains an effective platform for regional cooperation or is moving towards greater fragmentation. The discussion will also address possible scenarios for the future evolution of the Visegrád Group.
