Yoshihide SOEYA is a Professor of political science and international relations at Keio University's Faculty of Law and is the director of the university's Institute of East Asian Studies. His areas of interest are East Asian politics and security, Japanese diplomacy, and Japan's external relations in the region and the world. He received his Ph.D. in world politics from the University of Michigan in 1987. Professor Soeya serves on the boards of directors of the Japan Association of International Studies, and the Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS), in Tokyo. He is also a member of the Advisory Group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Asia Society's International Council in New York.
The Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS) is a leading think tank in Japan that conducts comprehensive research and make policy recommendations on issues related to Japanese and Asian security.
