The Polish Quarterly of International
Affairs is the Institute’s English language journal and has a Central
and Eastern European focus. It provides a forum for the analysis and
debate of international affairs through a collection of original, peer
reviewed articles on a contemporary theme.
Each issue features a collection of original, peer reviewed articles plus book reviews.

Submission GuidelinesArticles The Polish Quarterly of International Affairs currently invites original articles
in English on the following topics:
- Summer 2012: Eurozone crisis and the future of European integration
- Autumn
2012: Presidential elections in Russia, France and the United States.
Articles on the former two should analyse the outcome of the elections
while those on the U.S. should look to the vote.
- Winter 2012: Visegrad cooperation
Submission Deadlines:
- Friday 06 April 2012 for the Summer 2012 issue
- Friday 22 June 2012 for the Autumn 2012 issue
- Friday 03 August 2012 for the Winter 2012 issue
The journal also welcomes general submissions. General submissions are not subject to any deadline.
All articles should be submitted
in English, in Microsoft Word format by email to
pqia@pism.pl.
An abstract (up to 150 words) and an author’s biography (up to 200
words) along with the author’s contact details (e.g. full name, full
postal and email addresses and telephone number) should accompany the
article in a separate document, which should also note the articles
exact length, excluding footnotes.
Articles should be original
contributions and should not be under consideration elsewhere. They
should be between 6,000 to 8,000 words in length (excluding footnotes)
and should strictly adhere to the journal’s style, which is detailed in a
separate document (
for more information click here). Failure to comply with the journal’s style may result in delay or rejection.
For
specific submissions, authors should expect to hear a decision shortly
after the end of the call or the end of the closest call for general
submissions. All articles are subject to a first screening by the
Editor-in-Chief. After initial acceptance, articles are anonymised and
reviewed by a senior researcher at the Institute, and later returned to
authors for possible revision. After final acceptance, the article will
be edited and then, returned to authors for final approval. At this
point, authors will be asked to assign copyright of their articles to
the Polish Institute of International Affairs. Failure to comply with
set deadlines may result in delay or rejection.
On publication, authors will receive a complimentary copy of the journal in which their article appears.
ReviewsThe
Polish Quarterly of International Affairs invites reviews of books on
topics related to international affairs. Submissions are not subject to
any specific deadline.
Reviews should be submitted
in English, in Microsoft Word format by email to

should detail the title of the book, the author, publisher and year of
publication. An author’s biography (up to 200 words) and contact details
(e.g. full name, full postal and email addresses and telephone number)
