PISM publishes books and journals devoted to international relations in both Polish and other languages. Books are published in following series: Collections, Conferences, Monographs, Lectures, Forecasts, Reports, Anthologies. Since 2005, it has published the Polish Diplomatic Documents series, which provides access to written sources concerning Poland's international relations in the years 1918-1989 produced by Polish authorities, public institutions, the press, political parties and other civic organisations.  

The Institute publishes the following journals:

• Polski Przegląd Dyplomatyczny (The Polish Diplomatic Review) - a bi-monthly in Polish, which carries original articles, reviews of historic documents and Polish diplomatic chronicle
• Sprawy Międzynarodowe (International Affairs) - a quarterly in Polish focused on international affairs which has been published since 1948
• The Polish Quarterly of International Affairs - a quarterly in English; it contains selection of articles from Sprawy Międzynarodowe and Polski Przegląd Dyplomatyczny
• Evropa - a quarterly in Russian on European affairs, includes original articles and book reviews
• Zeszyty Niemcoznawcze PISM (PISM German Studies) - a bi-annually in Polish, it focuses on Polish-German relations, it carries original articles, documents, reviews of books on German issues and a chronicle of Polish-German relations,
• Rocznik Polskiej Polityki Zagranicznej/Yearbook of Polish Foreign Policy - both in Polish and English, a periodical which looks at selected Polish foreign policy issues in given year (e.g. bilateral relations and activity in multilateral institutions) and also attempts to draw up a balance sheet for that policy. It contains a chronicle of Poland's international relations and a review of Poland's treaty relations; it also profiles the leadership of the Polish foreign service.
• Zbiór Dokumentów (Collection of Documents) - a quarterly in Polish, collection of documents dealing with Poland's foreign policy and its bilateral and multilateral relations. It also contains documents of international organisations, including the UN, NATO and OSCE.
