Initial
results of the research project “Defence Austerity: a New Paradigm for Defence
and Security Cooperation in the Visegrad Region” (DAV4) have been presented at
the GLOBSEC conference (12-14 April 2012).
One of
the GLOBSEC sessions, with participation of PISM Director Marcin Zaborowski,
was an opportunity to publicly discuss the main research problem of the
project: ways to develop security and defence cooperation between the Visegrad
Group, particularly in the context of NATO’s Smart defence and EU’s pooling and
sharing initiatives
In a
series of closed meetings with top representatives of V4 defence and foreign
ministries, the members of the project discussed the initial research results
and the framework for the upcoming final report, which aims to serve as an
expert contribution to the V4 security and defence cooperation, gaining
momentum as marked by the adoption of a Joint V4 Declaration
The project is funded by the International Visegrad Fund and led by four
think tanks from Visegrad countries: PISM (Poland), Slovak Atlantic Commission
(Slovakia), International Centre for Democratic Transition (Hungary) oraz
Jagello 2000 (Czech Republic).
