Trade and investment relations, the concept of the “Chinese dream”, China–Central Europe cooperation, international security challenges—these and other topics were discussed at a roundtable discussion that gathered Chinese and Central European experts. On 20 May 2013, the Polish Institute of International Affairs, in cooperation with the China Institute of International Studies, organized a roundtable meeting of representatives of think tanks, university scholars and officials. Experts from China and Central Europe tried to address the question of the future prospects for relations between China and the European Union, in particular with Visegrad Group countries. 2013-05-16
On 16 May, the Polish Institute of International Affairs organised the experts seminar “Towards the 2013 Bundestag Elections: Do the Germans Want an Alternative?”. Taking part in the seminar were Piotr Buras (The European Council on Foreign Relations), Sebastian Płóciennik (University of Wroclaw) and PISM analyst Ryszarda Formuszewicz. The meeting was moderated by Roderick Parkes, PISM’s EU Programme Coordinator. The discussion was focused on three issues: an assessment of the prospects of the ruling coalition CDU/CSU-FDP to remain in power, the opposition SDP-Greens programme, and the importance of new players on the German political scene.
